The sustainability strategy of Luís Simões is framed by the principles that guide its business conduct, from which stand out: business ethics, innovation, road safety and cybersecurity. ​

​As such, the sustainability strategy aims to fulfil, in the medium and long term, the mission of providing efficient and competitive solutions in transport and logistics, in a responsible manner, and is based on three major pillars:​

  • Ensure that employees thrive in their work, through training and development and promoting well-being and preparing the team for the future.​
  • Building a social, environmentally and financially sustainable supply chain.​
  • Consolidation of a star team, able to ensure ethical and high-performance practices.​

In the context of the set of SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) the company aims at contribute to:​

Energy Efficiency and Climate Change​s

Energy efficiency is one of the strategic pillars of sustainability at Luís Simões. Since 2007, the Group has developed its sustainability strategy, making an unequivocal commitment to finding effective solutions that reduce the direct impact of its operations on the environment, contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.​

Since 2017, we have accounted for direct GHG emissions (scopes 1 and 2), and since 2021 we have accounted for our global scope 3 emissions, which makes it possible to demonstrate Luís Simões’ carbon footprint (its environmental impact in carbon).​

Energy Efficiency and Climate Change​
Luís Simões is committed to reducing GHG emissions through the Science Based Targets (SBTi) initiative.​
Luís Simões is committed to a near-term objective to:​
  • reducing absolute GHG emissions of scope 1 and 2 by 50.4% by 2032, starting from 2021 base year*.​
  • reducing scope 3 GHG emissions from fuel and energy-related activities and upstream transport and distribution by 35.6% per ton kilometer over the same period, which is equivalent to an absolute reduction of 9%.​

 

*The target limit includes soil-related emissions and bioenergy removals​.

Lean&Green

Luís Simões has joined Lean&Green, a European collaboration platform created to reduce emissions associated with the supply chain and achieve carbon neutral emissions by 2050, in line with the objectives set at the Paris Climate Summit (COP 21).
​Luís Simões is supported by local Lean&Green partners in the two markets in which it operates. Membership is through AECOC in Spain and GS1 in Portugal​.

Climate Change and GHG Emissões Report

Luís Simões responded to the CDP climate change questionnaire, highlighting its evolution in terms of Risks, Objectives, Monitoring and Governance.
In 2023 and 2024, Luís Simões’ score was “C” – Awareness.
