Luís Simões, in the context of business and sustainability strategy, renewed its fleet with the purchase of 200 new heavy goods vehicles, at a cost of 7.2M €. A measure that aims to strengthen the commitment, for several years now, in the environmental and road safety.

The new trucks - the model Iveco Strales Hiroad and Cursor engines HI-ESCR - meet the standard Euro VI the EU Directive on greenhouse gas emissions. The power / weight ratio is optimized, which helps to increase the interval between maintenance of vehicles, as well as the life of truck components, improving, in this way, locking indicators and fuel consumption.

The new vehicles have aerodynamic cabins of high performance and a more ergonomic design with Intarder technology, optimizing the efficiency and safety of drivers. At the same time, and in order to anticipate European legislation, new trucks are equipped with the Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), ABA - Active Brake Assist y ACC - Active Cruise Control - a system that warns acoustically when the vehicle goes out of the lines limit the carriageway, automatically activating flashing.

"The acquisition of these new vehicles helps to strengthen our commitment to sustainability throughout the supply chain at the same time we improve the safety of our employees and offer an efficient service to our customers" says Manuel Valentine, general manager of Iberian transport of LS.
