Luis Simões presents case study of Gigaliners in Spain

LS is the first player to implement this solution in the Iberian market

Luís Simões presented in the training seminars of the Association of Manufacturers and Distributors AECOC in Madrid, the case study "The arrival of Euro-modular vehicle 25,25m" for the project "Gigaliners". The presentation of the case study was provided by Felix Avila, Director of Innovation and Projects of Luis Simões, and arises in the context of the debate in Spain on the new guideline PRE / 2788/2015, which allows the use of Euro-modular vehicles to 25.25 meters.

"The Luis Simões was the first logistics operator in the Iberian Peninsula to develop such a solution. We have implemented a fleet of Euro-modular trucks 25,25m as a tool within a comprehensive system for our customers. It is a transverse process from creation to distribution across all our areas of supply chain, "said Felix Avila.

The solution consists of the development of 25.25 meters transport vehicles, called "Gigaliners" that transport the customer's pulp, among Leirosa and the Sea Port of Figueira da Foz. In all, the LS provides the customer eight vehicles, which combine a number of features that make them the most efficient and sustainable solution to make this transport.

"For the use of this means of transport to become a success, it is very important to note every detail of the process, from the regulations of the country, through the configuration of vehicles, routes, people involved and the objectives to be met. From this experience initial, we want to optimize the euro-modular and, therefore, we have to design it and adapt it to the needs of each service, "concluded Felix Avila.
